Removal of Eucalyptus Tree

Eucalyptus Tree in the rear garden of a property in Nether Heyford.

The customer called SAS Tree Care specialists and asked for us to quote to have the tree removed.

The tree was approximately 20 – 25 years old, and being a Eucalyptus Tree, fast growing, it had grown to a substantial 50 Feet in height.

On inspection of the tree we could see that it had considerable lean towards the neighbouring property and the large amount of roots, accustomed to Eucalyptus Trees, were beginning to cause damage to the customer’s patio and garden.

Having checked with the local council that there was no Tree Preservation Order (TPO) it was agreed that the tree would be removed.

Due to the location of the tree and upon completed risk assessment the decision was made to section fell the tree. Meaning it would need to be climbed and sections cut and lowered by use of a rope pulley system.

As you can see in the pictures the climber used spikes to maintain grip. As the tree was being taken down this is not a problem.

A tree being climbed to have works done to it but not to be removed should never be spiked as this leaves wounds open for infection and could cause the tree to get a fungus and die.

Once in position in the tree the climber ropes in and begins to section fell, safely in a controlled manor.

This tree took about four hours to get down to ground level.

This customer requested the wood be cut into manageable pieces and left on site.

SAS loaded the chipped brash and delivered locally for another customer’s garden. Total recycling!!

The remaining stump was then poisoned to prevent re-growth as this is the easiest and cheapest method and for this type of tree will be very effective.

Other more substantial varieties of tree won’t succumb to poisoning and need to be removed with a grinder.
